If you are looking for an indication of your soils potential to support yields in a sustainable manner look no further than carbon. Soil carbon is the fuel source for soil microbes, and microbial activity greatly impacts soil function.
Country Visions agronomy in Malone put on the addition of the fertilizer plant, tower and office in 2008. The fertilizer plant has a....
In Wrightstown, we faced many of the same issues seen across the area. May had good planting conditions that started us on the right track...
Manganese is one of 17 essential plant nutrients for plants to grow and produce a crop. Manganese is considered a micronutrient as it is taken up by plants in small quantities. In spite of the small quantities taken up by plants, critical plant functions are limited if micronutrients such as manganese are not available. Fertilizer recommendations for crops typically focus on nitrogen, phosphorous, potassium, and sulfur.
As we look back on a year filled with uncertainty, we notice that as producers; we are not phased by uncertainty. It surrounds us every day while producing a crop. Will it rain? How much will it rain? And what stage in the plants life all impact the outcome.
Precision agriculture technology changes the way we farm every day. The Country Visions team is happy to announce a new RTK positioning system called MyWay RTK. MyWay RTK is a solution that delivers RTK correction via a cellular modem in your tractor cab. MyWay RTK is designed to work with any GPS that allows RTK connection. This is especially beneficial to growers who work with multiple equipment brands. Country Visions currently has three RTK solution towers setup in the trade territory.
Country Visions has strived to improve our efficiency in the field the last two years. The first step was to implement a dispatching system call AgSync. This allows us to create electronic spray or spreading orders which we can organize and send directly to the applicators in the field on a computer tablet. No more paper maps! After the job is complete you receive a text or email with the completed information.
Agriculture and technology continue to advance every year. To meet this challenge, over the last six years we have developed a Precision Ag Technology Team which has grown to over 20 members across our eight agronomy locations. We evaluate new software programs & technology, train the agronomy team, collect/analyze planting & yield data, build VR prescriptions for seeding & N/P/K, and provide support to farmers by utilizing the technology they own and services offered by Country Visions.
Supply chain issues continue to make doing business more eventful than the past, but we have been blessed with a good crop year overall for our area. On July 27 and 28th, Paul Roemer from Fond du Lac, and Ryan Dubois from Wrightstown came with me to South Dakota to look at DOT. This is Ravens autonomous sprayer. The driver ran it from a control box like he was playing with his X-Box (I’m an Atari person). As we watched this demo, the field next to us had a combine, and the driver was perfecting getting the grain cart to come to him on demand. Things we always dreamed about are starting to become reality.
