The Agronomy team at Country Visions in Malone had a chance to play a small part in the story of a giant pumpkin that was grown this year. It was a fun experience learning about their pumpkin operation and pumpkins in general.

2383 is just another number to the average person, but to Derek Sippel of St. Cloud, Wisconsin the number 2383 is a personal milestone. The number 2383 is the official weight of a gigantic pumpkin that he nurtured this year on his farm.

Celebrated by cooperatives nationwide during the month of October, National Co-op Month is an annual opportunity to raise awareness of a trusted, proven way to do business and build resilient, inclusive communities. Under the theme “Cooperatives Build a Better World,” this year’s Co-op Month echoes messaging around the Year of Cooperatives and lifts up the people-centered businesses at the heart of our communities and economies.

 
 

One of the benefits of doing business with a Cooperative is the profits are paid back to the members. Profits are paid back in two ways, cash patronage and equity retirements. The equity portion is used to fund the Co-op. After a period of years and as the finances of the Co-op allow, this money is returned to the members. Last month, Country Visions mailed over $4.1 million in equity retirement checks to members. The Board of Directors of Country Visions are committed to continued revolvement of equities on a timely basis.
