A-B Lane Holsteins

The FFA organization is something that is extra special for the owners of A-B-Lane Holsteins located in Plymouth, WI. Todd and Kara Abraham and their kids, Jared and Macie, operate this dairy farm along with Todd’s parents, Terry and Janice. You probably don’t find ‘meet your future spouse’ on the list of ‘reasons to join FFA’, but for Todd and Kara it would become their reality. Todd and Kara first met in Kansas City at the National FFA Convention. They sat next to each other at one of the sessions, Todd asked for Kara’s number and as they say… “The rest is history.”
The Abraham’s have Registered Black & White and Red & White Cattle on their Dairy Farm. Todd enjoys working with the genetics of the cattle and having the registered herd, especially now with Jared and Macie involved with showing dairy cattle. The kids are the 5th generation of this family to live in the farmhouse and be involved with the farm. According to Todd, since he was a little kid, farming is all he wanted to do. “Never ever thought otherwise,” he said, “I would follow Dad and Grandpa around all the time and always wanted to be here.” He got along very well with his Grandpa and spent a lot of time with him. Todd shared that his Grandpa was so proud to have his first grandson when Jared was born, but sadly, his Grandpa passed away 6 months later.
Todd is proud to be a farmer and carry on the family tradition. “I think agriculture is one of the most efficient industries on the planet. No matter the challenge, we always answer to it. Whether it is having enough to eat, or whatever the challenge is.” Todd said. “We have accepted the responsibility to produce food and fiber for the world. I believe we take better care of the earth than most people realize we do, because we care about the future of the land and are really good at what we do.” This Sheboygan County Farm also includes some cash crops. Todd enjoys harvesting, saying it brings together everything you did all year.
Considering where it all started for this couple, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Todd and Kara have been involved and are still active in the FFA organization taking on roles as FFA Chair, Alumni Vice President, and State FFA Officer over the years. They are also Farm Bureau members and Kara is involved with the Fairest of the Fair and is the Holstein Association Secretary. The kids are involved in the Junior Holstein Association, FFA, Spring Valley 4-H and both show cattle. They also like to golf, an interest probably picked up from their grandparents, Terry and Janice.
Thank you to the Abraham family for sharing their story. We wish you continued success with your “family tradition” that continues to inspire the next generations. Best wishes to your family!
