Not everyone can say that they have a direct impact on feeding the country, but on this farm in Kewaunee County, Wisconsin, they say it with pride! Siegmund Farm LLC is a 3rd generation farm. Brothers, Lynn, Leslie and Lewis Siegmund grew up farming and continue to keep it in the family. All labor is done by family members. Leslie does the milking on the home farm, his wife does all the feeding of cows and calves, Lewis does equipment maintenance and repair, and Lynn does the milking and chores at their second farm across the road. All of the land is within a mile, so it is easy to help each other out. They also raise their own feed.
Watching calves become productive cows is what motivates these brothers to do what they do. They have always enjoyed raising animals. Now they can go through the whole process with their Dairy Operation and be rewarded by seeing results from the labor that goes into it.
Why did they choose agriculture as a career? “It gets in your blood,” according to the Siegmunds. They are also sports fans and have season tickets for the Packers. So, I think we can assume that the farming blood in these brothers, probably bleeds green and gold.
Thank you to Lynn, Leslie and Lewis for being our Farmer Friday story this week. We appreciate your business as a member-owner of our Cooperative. Good luck and much success for your operation!
Farmer Friday...post #31. To show our appreciation to our producer members, Country Visions Cooperative will be giving a snapshot look of our customers and their operations in this feature each Friday.
