“Working with family can have its ups and downs,” according to Mike Liner, “but you are able to rely on each other to get the work done. There is always someone to take care of everything you need.” Mike is one of the members of Liner Dairy, LLC. This 3rd generation Dairy Operation also includes his dad, Tim, and brother, Dan. The Liners farm together in the rural Fond du Lac County community of Van Dyne, Wisconsin located near the western shore of Lake Winnebago.

Mike has always enjoyed being outside and working with the animals, so farming was an easy choice when it came to the question of ‘what are you going to do when you grow up?’ “It is good honest work and you get to work with nature,” Mike said. The farming operation can offer challenges, but Mike gets satisfaction from the diversity of the job. “There is not one day that is even close to the next,” he said.

A goal of providing quality food for people is not limited to this dairy operation alone, but some of what they do may be a little more select. The Liners raise all of their own heifers. They also have made changes and have been doing all BMR corn silage. They feel like of all the trends that this is one that gives them a boost in milk production and helps get the most bang for the buck.

Outside of the farming operation, Mike volunteers his time and service as a member of the Van Dyne Volunteer Fire Department. He said there is not a whole lot of time for much else.

Thank you to Mike for sharing his insight and giving us a look into his family’s operation for this week’s Farmer Friday. Best wishes for continued success for you, your family, and the future of Liner Dairy, LLC!

Farmer Friday...post #55. To show our appreciation to our producer members, Country Visions Cooperative will be giving a snapshot look of our customers and their operations in this feature each Friday.
